Green space for the students and faculty of Sharon Center School to explore nature, do scientific experiments and use the obstacle course. It is also enjoyed by local residents on weekends.
No environmental impact studies are being required of the applicant, even though this is an important wetlands. See report below. (project is outside Sharon Wetlands Commission jurisdiction)
“Lake effect” - Birds confuse solar panels as a place to land. Migrating birds will not be able to distinguish between the pond on the wetlands and the solar panels, they will attempt to land on the solar panels which could cause injury or death.
Multiple local bears regularly pass thru the nature trail. The fence around the solar array could force them much closer to the school.
Doing so would be a way to add solar to the school and to avoid impacting the schools green space.
